Time to enjoy all things sour -
It’s Sourest Day!
If you’re a fan of lemons, rhubarb, dill pickles and kimchi, it is time to celebrate. Spend the day indulging in all your favorites.
The elves’ favorite is sour candy. They adore their sugar mixed with citrus acid, so I made some spiderweb cupcakes. The webs are made out of melted white chocolate. I added sour sugar spiders and added a bit of sour sugar to the chocolate frosting inside the cupcakes.
You can easily make your own, too! All you need to do to make sour sugar is mix powdered sugar with citric acid. For every half-cup of sugar, use about 1 tablespoon of the citric acid. Taste the sour sugar and add more if you desire more pucker.
These cupcakes can be a treat or a TRICK depending on the person who bites into one, but that’s for you to decide. 😉
