Make A St. Patrick's Day Placemat

Today, I did a little shopping looking specifically for a few more things to decorate with for St. Patrick’s Day. Nothing really struck my fancy, so instead I decided to create my own placemat. Initially, I didn’t think I would have paper that was long enough to give me the desired dimension. Then while I was looking through my supplies, I realized a paper bag from the grocery store would be perfect.

I used my paper cutter to cut 11 strips of green paper that are 11 inches long and 1 inch wide. Then with pinking shears I cut 8 strips from the paper bag that are 12 1/2 inches long and 1 inch wide. With some basic weaving and my hot glue, the whole thing came together very nicely. Scroll to see the process should you need a weaving reminder.

The nice thing about this project is with white glue or a glue stick, it becomes very child friendly and allows them to create something they can be proud of for your family’s St. Patrick’s Day table.
